Why When And Where To Get The Ozone Air Purifier

portable air conditioning
There is nothing more frustrating than having allergies act up while spending time inside the house, but unfortunately because of the polluted world we live in, it is an inescapable reality for a lot of us asthma victims. Let’s face it; No matter how dust free your house is, there is always going to be annoying little pollutants floating in the air, waiting to irritate someone. Be it pet odors, cooking odors, cigarette smoke or any other air contaminating odors you commonly find in occupied homes. Because of this problem, they invented all kinds of fancy technology to eliminate all the, should I say – stinky, contaminated bacteria.

Though often questioned and many times criticized, you start seeing all kinds of these air purifiers hit the market. Many manufacturers have started to produce them and it’s amazing how quickly they have started to become a more common household product. For a long time price was a major issue with a lot of folks, but because of the competition within the market place, you can get a reasonable air purifier for next to nothing. Perhaps the best place to look for one would be online. eBay is loaded with them and they are cheap too. The only downside is the shipping costs but hey, you never had to leave the comfort of your home to get it. Convenience comes at a price and in this case, it might even be cheaper than buying one at your local electronic outlet.

Now the question: There is a hundred different ones out there, which one should I get? They come in various shapes and sizes and each one might have a special characteristic to it, but if you get a new one (or a fairly recently manufactured one) even the basic one will be just fine and will do the job.

Air Conditioners Make the South Livable

portable air conditioning

Living in the Southern United States can be lovely. Consider the live oaks, flowering magnolias and dogwoods. These are able to thrive in the south due to the favorable climate, with mild wet winters, and long, hot and humid summers. These summer weather patterns might be suitable for plants, but they can wreak havoc on people’s comfort levels. Give yourself the gift of enjoyment no matter what the weather dishes up by obtaining a portable air conditioner.

One benefit you will receive from a portable air conditioner is that you can move it from room to room in your home. Rolling casters on the bottom help you smoothly move it, and in this way you can have cooling air anywhere you need it. Have a nice, cool kitchen or dining room to have your morning coffee, then move it to your home office to get your work done in comfort, and finish by placing it in your bedroom for an air-cooled night of restful sleep. A portable air conditioner can also be used in covered outdoor situations as well. Now you can enjoy a screened-in porch in August in pleasure, or an afternoon working in the garage in satisfaction, with soothing cool air wafting about you.

Another advantage given to you by the use of a portable air conditioner is that it freshens the air wherever you place it. Many portable air conditioners come with filters that help remove particles like pollen, dust and pet dander from the air.

People living in the South know how uncomfortable high humidity days can be. You get up and take a shower, and in a few minutes you are drenched and feel like you need to take another shower, all due to the excessive humidity. These unpleasant side effects of high humidity are a thing of the past if you own a portable air conditioner. These units also offer dehumidifying features, some of which need only infrequent emptying of the reservoirs. This helps take the water out of the air in your room of choice, and it helps you to stay dry, cool and comfortable.

Unlike some older window-mounted permanent air conditioners, portable air conditioners run in a very quiet manner. This is important if you are using it in an area where you are trying to get work done or sleep.

It is also important to consider the energy usage of an air conditioner. Some units take the water extracted from the air and use it to cool the air conditioning unit, which helps it run more mechanically and cost efficiently.

A portable air conditioner can be a summer saver if you live in the South, so invest in your comfort today.

Permanent or Portable Negative Ionization Equipment

portable air conditioning
Negative ionization equipment for purifying air can be part of a home system as a built-in or portable unit. Either one will do the basic task of releasing negative ions into the air which attach themselves to positive ions. These positive ions are in the form of fungi, dust, mold, exhaust, bacteria, and other pollutants and allergens. When negative ions attach themselves to positive ions, they form a cluster, which is heavier than air. These clusters fall to a surface where a quick wipe can remove them. The result is cleaner, fresher air.

Negative ionization equipment comes in many portable models. They can also be part of a permanent home heating and air conditioning system. Your decision to go one route or the other depends on your air purification requirements. Whatever you choose, the sanitizing effect of these units is worth their price alone. With the air outside and inside full of harmful microbes we often forget what fresh air can do to us in terms of physical energy.

With a permanent stationary ionizer, you have a central station equipped with a negative ionization unit that can service all areas of your home or business. Air filtered from this central point moves along the entire network resulting in an even distribution of negatively charged air. When many rooms are in use at a home or workplace this is an efficient way to ensure all have clean air. In addition, with a built-in unit, you only have to worry about one device running and not multiple units in different locations. However, if you want to provide good quality fresh air only to a room currently in use, you cannot do this with a built-in unit with one central controlling function. You have to run full power to provide for one room.

With a portable ionizer, you have the luxury of moving a unit from room to room in a house or office complex. As well, you can buy multiple units and let each individual in an office control their own environment. Portable HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air-Filter) air purifiers equipped with negative ions generating systems are great for keeping employees alert in their offices come the afternoon blahs. They’re especially suitable for areas where there are no windows to let in fresh air. Another benefit of a portable unit is the ability to move it around in a room and direct the airflow to the exact area you are working at. With a built-in unit, you can only direct the air to the room as a whole.

Some portable units on the market today are Ionic Breeze air purifier, Surround Air purifier, and Bentax air purifier:

The Ionic air purifier comes in different sizes according to the coverage required. There’s the Ionic Breeze Tabletop Silent Air Purifier with two air cleaning speeds which uses 8 watts of power. This model is excellent for smaller rooms. There are also Ionic Breeze portable systems for larger rooms with the Ionic Breeze Quadra Silent Air Purifier. This model has three speeds and operates with 10 watts.

Surround Air manufactures a model (Multi-Tech) that has a HEPA allergens filtration filter and a germ-killing UV lamp. It includes a negative-ion generator and odor sanitizer. This model also has an anti-bacterial pre-filter.

The Bentax model, the MiniTower, is a suitable unit for those who need coverage in a larger room it consumes up to 3.5 watts of energy. Its design is for larger offices, conferences, and open plan living rooms. It is suitable in a larger boat cabin as well.

Whether one chooses a built-in negative ionization unit or a portable one, the benefits are numerous. Negative ions output units do not spout harmful ozone emissions. They purify air in their own small way, room by room, for healthful benefits. Their sanitizing effect makes air fresher, which in turn makes those present in a room refreshed. At home, or at work, a refreshed person is a more alert and productive person – and therefore more efficient. Increased productivity at home and on the job enhances a person’s confidence because of a job well done.

In addition, fresh, pure, negative ionized air gives a person more energy, which contributes to an overall feeling of well-being. This promotes a positive attitude, which is a great shield against depression. Negative ionization equipment for the home or office is a simple solution to many common health and attitude problems when used correctly.

Air Conditioner: Cool History

portable air conditioning

Air conditioning: On a hot day, some people feel like they would not survive without it. It does not only refer to controlling the temperature of an indoor area (cooling), though. It also refers to controlling the humidity and sometimes even the purity of the air in an interior. When you are cruising down the street on a blistering day with the AC cranked up or freezing in a frigid movie theater watching the latest blockbuster, do you ever wonder who came up with the idea of air conditioning? It may have started earlier than you think.

The Ancient Romans invented sewers, public baths, and pottery which prove how innovative their society was. They also came up with the idea of circulating aqueduct water through the walls of houses to cool them. The Medieval Persians used a complex system of cisterns and wind towers to cool their civilization. A cistern was a large open pool in a central courtyard that collects rain water. The wind tower had windows that caught wind and internal vanes to direct the airflow down to the buildings, over the cistern and out through a downwind cooling tower. When the water in the cistern evaporated, it cooled the air in the building.

The process we currently think of as air conditioning got its start a little later. In 1820, Michael Faraday, an English chemist and physicist, discovered that compressing and liquefying ammonia could chill air when the liquefied ammonia was allowed to evaporate. In 1842, John Gorrie, a physician in the United States, used compressor technology to create ice. He dreamed of using his ice-making machine to regulate the temperature of buildings and eventually entire cities, but died before his dream came true.

Willis Haviland Carrier, in 1902, was the inventor of the first modern electrical air conditioning. He got the term air conditioning from a man named Stuart W. Cramer. Cramer controlled the humidity of his textile mill by combining moisture with ventilation. Evaporation of water in air to provide a cooling effect is now known as evaporative cooling. After the demand for modern electrical air conditioners went up, Carrier formed the Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America which is currently the largest manufacturer and distributor in the world of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

New developments in air conditioning continue to this very day. Now there is a priority on increasing energy efficiency and improving indoor air quality. So, when you are kicking back on your couch, covered with a light blanket as the sun blazes outside, you now know who to thank for your satisfaction with the surrounding environment. That may be the very definition of cool.

How Air Purifiers for Your Home are Just One Part of a Smart Allergy Control Strategy

portable air conditioning

If you’re a health conscious person like myself you’re probably already aware of how air purifiers for your home can remove those irritating pollutants none of us need to breathe. Air purifier marketers have done a bang up job educating us about that.

However, as they say in the infomercials, “But wait, there’s more!” In this case a good deal more.

If you really want the cleanest air possible for yourself and your family then choosing the right air purifiers for your home is just one part of a three-prong effort.

What you need to do is neither complicated nor time consuming. All you need is a little advance planning and the will to follow through on a few simple steps.

The single most important thing you can do to ensure clean, irritant and allergen free air in your home is to get control of as many sources of pollution as possible.

Controlling irritants and allergens in your home will include things like:

Make sure combustion appliances are serviced. This decreases soot and carbon monoxide as well as nitrogen oxides.

Choose products with low emissions. This means going “fragrance free” wherever possible or finding natural alternatives.

Eliminate smoking. Duh.

Keep your pets outside. This has the greatest potential for going undone but is necessary. Pet dander and allergens have serious consequences. Even non-allergic people constantly exposed to allergens become allergic.

Maintain low humidity. Dehumidifiers help eliminate mold and mildew growth, reduce dust mite populations, even reduce out gassing of volatile organic compounds (somehow water vapor helps “loosen” those nasty things).

Prevent moisture build-up. Leaks are a dangerous mold outbreak waiting to happen. But mold won’t wait for long!

Clean to reduce dust, pollens, dust mites and mold growth.

All of the above help contribute to reducing your exposure to irritants that can make your allergies worse.

Get some fresh air

One of the easiest ways to clear bad indoor air is simply to replace it with some outdoor air. Of course, open windows aren’t always a good idea and may bring in more allergens.

Ideally, fresh air ventilation is achieved through a mechanical air intake that filters and exchanges outside air for the inside air. Coupled with a heat exchanger these can both give clean, allergen free air and still be energy efficient. Of course, this requires some modification to your existing heating and air conditioning system. But it is a worthwhile investment in the long run.

Where do the air purifiers come in?

A whole house air cleaner or portable room air purifier can pick up where your other efforts leave off.

Air cleaning alone won’t remove all the allergens and other pollutants in your home. For example, pet dander is produced in such quantities and the allergic threshold is so low that air cleaning has little positive benefit. Source control is your best choice in such a case.

However, air purifiers for your home are one of the three effective ways to improve indoor air quality. Like many others, myself included, you may find air purifiers help relieve your symptoms of asthma and allergies.
